Webb & Radan B.A.M. Niagara Winners at 2018 Golden Gloves

Two Niagara Falls athletes came up winners at the 2018 Ontario Golden Gloves – Provincial Championships, held December 7-10 in Toronto.

Niagara Boxing Club - bamniagara.caSeventeen-year-old, Christopher “C-Plus” Webb, emerged with the provincial silver medal in the Novice 69kg division. Thursday, Webb fought Cyril Al-Hassar of Champion Boxing Club, in a victory winning by split decision. Josh Rigby of Warriors Boxing Club was unable to compete in the scheduled Friday bout, advancing Webb to the championship. Losing by split decision, Saturday, in the match-up against Aden Souleiman Djama of Top Glove Boxing Club, Webb emerged with the Golden Gloves silver medal. Christopher is an exemplary student attending Stamford High School in Niagara Falls.

In the Novice 50kg division, eleven-year-old, Luka “Big Cat” Radan triumphed over Carlito Parra of No Excuse Boxing Club, winning by unanimous decision, Saturday. Advancing to the gold medal match, Sunday, against Carter White of Fighting Island Boxing Club, winning again by unanimous decision, Radan became the 2018 Golden Gloves gold medalist. Luka also won gold at the 2017 Ontario Silver Gloves tournament, Sept 29 – Oct. 1.

Both athletes train out of B.A.M. Niagara Boxing Club under the tutelage of Coach James Phelps. Phelps was Head Coach of the Grenada Boxing Team at the 2007 World Boxing Championships in Chicago, IL, USA, and coached former 2008 Olympian, Rolande Moses.
